Sloppy joes is definitely a comfort food classic. It’s makes a great week night dinner for its simplicity. My recipe is adapted from Jay’s baking me crazy. The original recipe calls for coconut aminos. I love coconut aminos but I am currently out so I tweaked it to have just as much flavor. Here is the Paleo ketchup recipe I use. I like to add in 1 tsp of curry powder. It doesn’t change the flavor a lot but it adds a little something extra. If you have never made ketchup before please don’t be intimidated. It seriously takes 2 min to make! I make mine while the ground beef is browning. For those new to Paleo, once your taste buds adjust, natural foods like fruit and this ketchup recipe will naturally taste sweeter.
We have served our sloppy joes over zoodles and sweet potatoes. Sometimes I serve over Zoodles for dinner and a sweet potato for lunch to break up the monotony.
